Ways to GivePut fuel in the tank.
Gas, bait, licences, a hot meal, a heater that works, a seat in the truck for a guy who'd otherwise be home alone. That's what your money actually buys here. Nothing about this is complicated.
Before you give, know exactly where we stand. The LockLeed Outdoor Foundation is a Minnesota nonprofit corporation — incorporated 12 December 2025 under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 317A, and organized for charitable purposes under section 501(c)(3). That is the state filing. It is not the IRS one: our 501(c)(3) application is still pending, so we cannot tell you a gift today is tax-deductible, and we won't pretend otherwise. Our online giving page isn't switched on yet either. If you want to help right now, email us at info@lockleedoutdoorfoundation.org — and if the deduction matters to you, it may be worth waiting for our determination. We'll say so here the day it lands.
Ways to support the foundation
Money is only one of them — and honestly, it isn't always the most useful one.
Sponsor a day outdoors
The most direct thing you can do. A day on the ice for a group of veterans — bait, gas, licences, food and a warm house — is a real, countable thing your money buys. Sponsor one, or sponsor the season.
Give gear, not cash
Augers, heaters, rods, tackle, a flasher, an ice house you're not using this year, a boat seat. If it works and it gets someone outdoors, we want it. In-kind gifts skip the paperwork entirely.
Back the inaugural gala
Businesses: table sponsorships, silent-auction items and event underwriting for the launch gala. It's the single biggest lever for getting this foundation off the ground properly.
The gun raffle
A community raffle is in the works to help fund the outings. We'll publish the prize, the rules, the odds and the licensing before a single ticket is sold — no tickets are on sale today.
Give your time
We need a founding board, and we need people who'll drive, guide, cook, haul gear, or just sit with someone. Time is worth more than money to us at this stage — and it costs you nothing.
Open a door
Access to land, a lake place, a fish house, a resort with a soft week, a bus, or an introduction to a veteran group that should know about us. Connections cost nothing and unlock everything.
No overhead worth talking about — yet.
We're not going to show you a pie chart we made up. Here's the honest version: this foundation is brand new, it's run by volunteers, and there is no staff to pay. Money that comes in right now goes to the direct cost of getting veterans outdoors together.
- Gas, bait, tackle and fishing or hunting licences
- Ice houses, heaters, augers and safety gear
- A hot meal at the end of a cold day
- The cost of standing the foundation up — filing fees, insurance, the gala
- Supporting the other veteran nonprofits already doing good work
When there's a real budget and real numbers to report, we'll report them here. Until then, ask Joel and he'll tell you exactly where your money went.
